The workshop “Mindfulness and Stress Reduction at Work” was held on the 9th May, at the Altice Labs’ amphitheater and it was led by Prof. Dr. José Carlos Lopes, professor at the University of Aveiro, PhD in Physics, and member of UA’s Mindfulness Practice and Study Center.

The term mindfulness, which can be translated as full consciousness, designates a special way of paying attention. Programs based on mindfulness, in which one learns to cultivate the innate ability to pay attention to experiences when they occur, aim to help, in a practical and pragmatic way, and to cope better with the difficulties of life. They have been applied in several contexts: clinical, school and in the workplace.

This workshop has explained what is mindfulness and some of its programs and purposes.
