Startup Winner

expressPIK

Neuropsycad

Startup that offers diagnostics for personalized treatments of breast cancer, through a test that allows identifying which women have a specific genetic mutation for the application of a more personalized and targeted therapy to the “target”.

“Born from Knowledge” distinction

Karion Therapeutics

Neuropsycad

Startup whose focus is the development of innovative and disruptive therapies, effective and safe for aggressive cancers. The project involves a promising molecule for treating cancer, which may benefit from the advantages associated with the designation of an “orphan drug”, namely regulatory and related to the necessary requirements for human trials.

Tympulse Medical

The first product from Tympulse Medical is a new technology for the rapid and effective repair of damaged tympanic membranes. Annually, unresolved perforations account for 6% of the 65-330 million infections worldwide, with approximately 11 000 children and 20 000 adults per year in the United States alone. Tympanoplasty surgery is the only treatment option for these cases, carrying a risk of complications. All these limitations are the driving forces behind the development of this alternative, which can treat tympanic membrane perforations with fewer steps, in less time, and with minimal discomfort for the patient.

BreastScreening-AI

Neuropsycad

Pioneering platform designed to revolutionize breast cancer diagnosis using advanced artificial intelligence. By integrating specialized intelligent agents, this system addresses two critical challenges in modern medicine: the scarcity of up-to-date medical data and the need for transparent AI decision-making. By providing clear and interpretable explanations for each diagnosis and emphasizing evidence-based medicine, BreastScreening not only enhances diagnostic accuracy but also fosters confidence between physicians and AI, ensuring that healthcare professionals remain in control of patient care decisions.

Charging the future os Evs through the wheel

Neuropsycad

Design and optimization of a new solution that incorporates a wheel with wireless battery charging capabilities. This new solution follows the current trend of integrating the propulsion system into the wheels, leaving only the batteries in the vehicle itself. The in-Wheel concept uses two magnetic couplers, ORMC and IRMC, to transfer energy between the external side and the vehicle side. This way, the energy transfer capability is independent of the vehicle’s ground clearance, a limitation of conventional IPT solutions.

Methods for Improving Generalizability and Robustness of Medical Imaging AI Models

Neuropsycad

Medical images play a fundamental role in screening, diagnosis, and monitoring patient responses to treatment. With rapid advances in AI for computer vision, leveraging this technology has become imperative to enhance patient care, reduce the burden on radiologists, and improve the efficiency of national healthcare systems. However, despite its potential, the adoption of AI models in healthcare has been slow. To address these challenges, the project proposes a feature learning approach to improve the model’s performance, especially with previously unseen data (out-of-distribution data), a significant problem due to the evolving healthcare environments.

Neuropsycad

Currently, there are 40 million blind people, and this number will increase to 100 million by 2050. Despite all technological advances, when it comes to the mobility of the blind, there are only 2 solutions: the guide dog and the cane. Lumen glasses replicate the main characteristics of a guide dog in a scalable medical technology product. By using the latest autonomous driving, robotics, and AI technologies, the glasses can understand the environment and guide the user through it, allowing blind people to travel, explore the world, and live independently.

Mobiis

Neuropsycad

The Mobiis solution focuses on making mobility more inclusive for individuals facing various mobility challenges, such as autism spectrum disorders, visual impairments, wheelchair users, pregnant women, and the elderly. The project aims to recommend accessible and personalized routes, taking into account the user’s specific mobility limitations, and avoiding obstacles to ensure their safety, independence, and autonomy. Transportation systems will be integrated into the application for longer journeys, which is a crucial aspect for the adoption of the solution in large cities.

Zoomguide

Neuropsycad

Guide capable of recognizing, through AI, the environment and providing relevant multimedia content for users with special needs. When exploring a museum or a city, there are countless stories that we rarely have the opportunity to discover. With Portugal as its headquarters and playground, the mission is to make the discovery of cultural heritage increasingly immersive, interactive, and accessible. Additionally, it aims to provide digital tools to museums and cities that allow the creation of experiences capable of generating additional revenue streams and attracting new audiences.
