On the 3rd June 2019, at the invitation of Prof. Maria João Antunes from the Communication and Arts Department of the University of Aveiro, the Altice Labs User Experience, Communication and Product Promotion team was invited to present a case study, in the Altice Labs Communication area, during a theoretical class of Institutional Communication, for a group of students of the 2nd year of the degree in New Communication Technologies.
The presentation of the case study lasted about an hour and covered several topics of the institutional communication of Altice Labs. After a brief introduction about the company, the motto with which this presentation began was the personal journey in the company of two members of the communication team of Altice Labs, Paulo Margaça and Cátia Pinto, from the f Technology and Innovation Strategy department.
A brief explanation of the mission, values and history of Altice Labs was given and the profile of the people working in the company and how it communicates institutionally to such an heterogeneous group, as well as to the outside of the company, in a globalized context, was also presented.
The focus of this case study presentation was mostly on the three main areas of communication and product promotion, namely internal communication, external communication and product promotion. In each of these aspects, what the communication team does on a daily basis in the company was shared, with examples of some images and the presentation of some concrete experiences.
The feedback from the class was very positive and in the words of Prof. Maria João Antunes, “in the context of student training, it is essential to promote University-Business cooperation. The participation of Paulo Margaça and Cátia Pinto was of high interest, since it allowed to know the areas of action of the communication team, in the context of Altice Labs. The students had the opportunity to know how theoretical concepts (eg internal and external communication tools in organizations) are approached in a real context. After class, students reflected on the importance of what was shared, highlighting the following:
– the possibility of learning about the work carried out by a communication team in several areas of a large company;
– recognize the relevance of the communication team in a company;
– to verify the precision that has to be put in the execution of the tasks, assigned to the communication team.”
