The IEEE NCA 2018 (17th IEEE International Symposium on Network Computing and Applications) took place in Boston from the 1st to 3rd November.

This conference is held annually and its main purpose is to promote information, prototypes and ideas from the industry or academia, associated with microservices, machine learning, among other themes.

Ricardo Ângelo Filipe, from the Network Services and Platforms department – and in the context of his PhD -, was present with three articles, focusing on the systems monitoring theme.

The “Nonintrusive Monitoring of Microservice-Based Systems”, “Response Time Characterization of Microservice-Based Systems” and “On Black-Box Monitoring Techniques for Multi-Component Services” focused on monitoring using signal processing techniques and machine learning , as well as use cases using modules developed by Netflix for microservices platforms.
