On June 19th, the Center for Engineering and Development in Matosinhos hosted the closing public session of the project City Catalyst: Catalyst for Sustainable Cities.

The project explored the use of technology in the digital transformation of cities in order to improve people’s quality of life in urban environments.

The agenda included a general presentation of the project by EFACEC; a presentation of the objectives and results; and a presentation of the demonstration scenarios of the cities in which the project was developed: Aveiro, Famalicão, Guimarães and Porto. The session culminated in a visit to the demonstrators.

Filipe Cabral Pinto, from the Innovation Strategy and Digital department at Altice Labs, participated in the event in partnership with the Telecommunications Institute, presenting PPS1: Sensing, communication and computing infrastructure, and the demonstration scenarios that took place in Aveiro. Gonçalo Machado, a member of the same department and responsible for the development of Live!Urban, demonstrated the platform’s functionalities in an urban context.

In addition to dozens of participants, the session was also attended by the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Administrative Modernization, Mário Campolargo.
