Building the Future is considered the biggest digital transformation event in Portugal and this year it took place on the 26th, 27th and 28th of January, in a completely online format and with the theme “Activate Portugal for a digital future”.

Altice Labs was present in this 3rd edition with the participation of Alcino Lavrador, General Manager of Altice Labs and Paulo Pereira, Director of Technology and Innovation Strategy at Altice Labs, together with other Altice representatives and more than 300 speakers present in sessions with diversified topics from Sustainability, Economy, Innovation, Trust, Data, Industry, Health to Education, which were attended by 21,000 online participants during the three days.

This entire event took place on an interactive platform that allowed interaction between visitors and the various “exhibitors”, from networking, chats and virtual meetings. “Smart Cities” was one of the areas promoted by Altice and Altice Labs, where Alcino Lavrador shared his expectations about the digital transformation and the impact that its evolution may have in the future, changing the way goods are consumed, how people work and live in cities. He stressed that Altice Labs, just as in anticipation of 5G began exploratory research in 2014, which allows it to be at the forefront of this technology, also began research in 2017 on its evolution towards 6G, which will impact people in the 2030s.

Paulo Pereira participated in the session “The Future is Now Talk – Data Enabled Future” where he spoke about data and shared his perspective of what will be its role in the future, that is, what is the real importance of the data for society? What challenges are expected? These were some questions that were answered in this session, where he also emphasized that the digital transformation has exponentially increased the power that information has to generate value for companies’ businesses, making them even more competitive. Therefore, it is necessary to continue work and invest in technology, namely in connectivity and in the existence of excellent platforms, which aim to enhance the business and the experience of its customers, also contributing to the competitiveness of the geographies where each one operates, thus allowing the industry to have the capacity to manage large amounts of data, analyze and correlate them to generate valuable information insights for the business, with cognitive ability to infer appropriate behaviors to adopt in exceptional situations in a perfectly automatic process, not forgetting that it will also be necessary to bet on resources capable of contributing to this new future of the digital age.
