On the 28th June, Altice Labs was present in two events where the 5G was the central theme, presenting its vision, challenges and opportunities for 5G.

Francisco Fontes, from the Technology and Innovation Strategy department, participated as a speaker at ConfTele ‘2019, in the morning, in the “Panel on 5G”, in the Auditorium of the National Headquarters of the Engineers Order in Lisbon and, in the afternoon, it was time to go to Aveiro, to the Regional Delegation of the Engineers Order, to participate in the lecture “The Challenges and Opportunities of 5G”.

In ConfTele ‘2019 the challenges that the beginning of the 5G era will bring to the telecommunications sector were presented, namely the transformation of the world into digital with the consequent production of huge volumes of data that can be consumed by multiple applications supported by several terminals. Francisco Fontes presented the project P2020 “5G Mobilizer”, where he highlighted the contribution of the national industry to the 5G implementation and its exploitation. He also mentioned the Aveiro Steam City project, highlighting how it will revolutionize the city and population of Aveiro, through the transformation into the digital era.

In the event in Aveiro, the opening was assured by the Assistant Secretary of State for Communications, Dr. Alberto Souto de Miranda, in which he stressed that one of the great challenges related to the fifth generation of mobile communications, 5G, is to ensure the creation of specific applications for the life of communities and enterprises. Next, Francisco Fontes, as representative of Altice Labs, presented his vision, explaining what is 5G and highlighting the 5G challenges in the various applications of everyday life.
