5G-EPICENTRE

5G experimentation platform focused on software solutions that serve the needs of PPDR

Project name

5G-EPICENTRE

Program project number

Description

5G-EPICENTRE will deliver an open 5G experimentation platform focused on software solutions that serve the needs of PPDR (Public Protection & Disaster Relief). The envisioned platform will enable SMEs and developers to acquire knowledge aligned with the latest 5G applications and approaches for first responders and crisis management, as well as to build up and experiment with their solutions. The 5G-EPICENTRE platform will be based on an open service-oriented architecture, following the current best DevOps practices (containerization of micro-services) and will be able to accommodate and provide open access to 5G network resources, acting as a 5G open-source repository for PPDR NetApps. For the assessment of the abovementioned platform, the realization of several use cases will be realized as a PPDR vertical. Through the use cases, relevant 5G KPIs will be measured, especially those related to service creation time. SUNRISE-6G represents a jump beyond the capabilities of 5G, with advanced technologies such as federated networking with Blockchain and greater Edge Computing capabilities. Federation in the context of 6G infrastructure implies a cohesive and collaborative approach to network design, implementation, and maintenance, in which various network resources function as decentralized entities.
