Mafalda is an eight-year-old girl diagnosed with a rare metabolic disease (XY Gonadal Dysgenesis), which mainly affects her vision, balance, and coordination. To enhance her motor, cognitive, and sensory development, she undergoes daily therapies, most of which are not reimbursed. That’s why the collection of plastic caps and the solidarity of people are essential to help with the costs.
Altice Labs was not indifferent to this cause, and over the last few months has promoted a solidarity initiative to collect plastic caps to help this child and her parents.
We managed to collect around 50 kgs of plastic caps, which were delivered to the family on September 23rd. It was precisely on this day that Mafalda celebrated her 8th birthday, so the surprise was doubled: we also offered a bouquet of balloons in shades of pink, her favorite color. To make this surprise a reality, we had the support of the “Ideias com Asas” (Ideas with Wings) project.
The smile on Mafalda’s face showed how much she appreciated the surprise, and her mother was very grateful for the gesture. “The journey is tough, full of obstacles and gray days … but everything becomes easier with good people in our way”, she emphasized.
