On October 24, Altice Labs hosted the “ICT-41 Plugfest” event, as part of the IEEE-WFIoT (IEEE 9th World Forum on Internet of Things) conference, which included a demonstration focused on IoT applications based on the OneSource’s Mobitrust platform. The goal was to evaluate the use of technology and improving situational awareness and safety for first responders, including a brief introduction to the H2020 5G-EPICENTRE project.
Participants had the opportunity to see and test various technologies, including drones, augmented reality and virtual reality glasses, personal kits for monitoring/location/situational information, active video surveillance equipment and platforms for command and control centers using algorithms based on artificial intelligence.
By providing the audience with the opportunity to interact actively with equipment and platforms, it was possible to obtain feedback, which is essential for identifying the best practices and approaches to optimize technology and adapting it to the reality of protection and rescue missions.
The active participation in this event by the two fire departments of the municipality of Aveiro, the Portuguese National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, and APS – Ports of Sines and the Algarve Authority, stands out.
