PT Inovação attended the IoT Week 2015, held at the Congress Centre in Lisbon, with a stand presenting some products in the area of IoT/M2M (Managed Connectivity and Smart Assisted Living) and the results of the participation in four European projects (Smartie, UCN, BESOS and MO-BIZZ). The event attracted the interest of many visitors from the business and academia sector.
This was the 5th edition of IoT Week, after Barcelona (2011), Helsinki (2012), Venice (2013) and London (2014). This event intend to establish the annual meeting of European IoT community, bringing together Telecoms, developers, universities and entities from the European Commission.
The competence and capacity of the PT Inovação’s teams were well evidenced in two important moments of the event:
Paulo Pereira, from the Network Services and Platforms department, was one of the guest speakers on the panel ” How cable and telcos support large-scale Internet-of-Things”, with a presentation entitled ” Blending 4-play with heterogeneous network and a hint of openness”.
The team of Pedro Rocha, João Lima, Diogo Castro and Fábio Gonçalves won the third place in the hackathon (programming marathon), promoted by IoT Week and sponsored by IBM and Libelium. This team, in two days, successfully make an integration of an end-to-end solution, fully functional. Using IBM and Libelium’s technologies, the PT Inovação’s team joined various components of Bluemix (IBM) with a sensor kit (Libelium) and developed an end-to-end solution that easily allowed to register new devices (i.e. sensors) by reading QR codes, send SMS notifications, receive information from these devices, set benchmarks (i.e. thresholds) and finally display the collected information as well as the violation of pre-configured limits an integrated panel graphics.
