X Employability Forum
The X Employability Forum was held on May 2 and 3, 2024, at the Penteada Campus, organized by the Employment and Professional Training Observatory of the University of Madeira. The main objective of this event was to promote interaction between students and the job market.
Altice Labs’ presence on both days was significant, contributing greatly to the success of the event. At the company’s stand, students had the opportunity to interact with Iúri Viveiros from the Digital Platforms and Services department, and Humberto Gonçalves from the Delivery Management and Operations department, who shared their experiences and knowledge, enriching everyone’s experience.
On May 3, flash interviews were conducted virtually by André Carvalho from the Human Resources department.
7th edition of .Works 2024
The 7th edition of .Works took place on May 8, 2024, at the Department of Informatics Engineering of the University of Coimbra, organized by the jeKnowledge association. This event provided students with the opportunity to contact and communicate with various companies in the job market.
Altice Labs, in partnership with Inovaria, was present at a stand and conducted flash interviews with students interested in the area in which it operates, providing a conducive environment for networking and exploring the various internship opportunities offered by Altice Labs.
Workshop – Design Thinking and Product Design
The Department of Communication and Art (DECA) of the University of Aveiro hosted a Workshop on Design Thinking and Product Design on May 15, 2024, organized by Altice Labs in partnership with the Multimedia and Communication Technologies Student Group (NEMTC).
Mariana Azevedo and Sydney Neto from the Innovation Strategy and Communication department at Altice Labs conducted the session, which covered the principles and practices of Design Thinking applied to the digital product design process. During the workshop, all phases of the process were explored: empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing, along with various Design Thinking methodologies. Additionally, some practical cases developed by the Altice Labs team were presented, providing students with real-world examples.
At the end of the Workshop, Altice Labs took this moment to challenge students to put their knowledge and critical thinking into practice through a challenging activity: creating an innovative solution in the health area, materialized in a digital interface. This moment was dedicated to a detailed explanation of the challenge dynamics, including development stages, deadlines, and evaluation criteria. This approach was essential for students to better understand what was expected of their proposals and feel more prepared to defend the innovation value of their ideas.
This joint initiative between DECA, NEMTC, Altice Labs, and INOVA-RIA reflects a continuous commitment to promoting the personal and professional growth of students, offering educational experiences aligned with their interests.
Talent Bootcamp Various Academies of the North
Altice Labs participated virtually in the Talent Bootcamp Various Academies of the North on May 16 and 17, 2024, an event that brings together companies and students to promote the exchange of knowledge and networking opportunities.
Altice Labs’ presence stood out for its interactive and collaborative approach, providing growth moments for both students and the Human Resources (HR) team. On the first day of the event, Vera Santos from HR conducted a detailed presentation about the organization, its activities, and career opportunities. The presentation was followed by a dynamic Q&A session, where participants could clarify doubts, better understand the company’s culture and values, and obtain information about the sought-after professional profiles.
On the second day, Altice Labs held individual sessions with students, focused on providing constructive feedback on the pitches presented. Vera Santos and André Carvalho evaluated the presentations, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement, and offered practical advice to enhance future presentations. This personalized feedback was highly valued, contributing to the personal development of the students.
University 5.0
Altice Labs participated in the latest edition of the University 5.0 Employment Fair, organized by the University of Aveiro, on May 21, 2024. This event, highly regarded in the student and business community, promotes valuable proximity between companies and students.
During the event, Altice Labs conducted several job interviews, where it presented its projects and listened to the students’ aspirations. This participation strengthened the company’s connection with future professionals, promoting career opportunities and sharing valuable knowledge with the academic community.
Presentation of Dissertation/Internship Projects
Altice Labs participated in the Presentation of Dissertation/Internship Projects, organized by the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications, and Informatics of the University of Aveiro (DETI-UA), on May 22, 2024. More than 50 students participated in the event, which provided an interactive afternoon for knowledge exchange and dissemination of internship opportunities.
During the session, Alfonso Figueiredo from the Development of Advanced Connectivity Solutions department conducted an institutional presentation followed by a dynamic Q&A session. Students could interact directly with the company representative, clarifying doubts and obtaining detailed information about available internship opportunities.
STEM LABS: Engineering and Technology Laboratories 2024
STEM LABS (Engineering and Technology Laboratories), promoted by the National Program Engineers for a Day, featured the participation of Altice Labs at the Cultural Center of Viana do Castelo on May 22, 2024. This initiative aimed to spark the interest of young female students in engineering and technology fields.
With the participation of approximately 150 secondary and vocational students, the event provided Altice Labs with a unique opportunity to present its company, products, and innovative internship projects. During the various sessions, Catarina Ribeiro from Altice Labs’ Innovation Strategy and Communication department conducted the institutional presentation, and Regina Julião from the Delivery Management and Operations department presented a session titled “Being an Engineer: Technology and Engineering,” which aimed to raise awareness about the importance of more students pursuing engineering fields and to deconstruct gender stereotypes related to these professions.
In addition to practical demonstrations of some equipment and solutions developed by Altice Labs, the event included an interactive quiz at the end of each session, allowing participants to explore the various professions available in technology and engineering at the company.
Media Play’ 24 – DeCA
Media Play’ 24, an event organized by Digimedia – Center for Research in Digital Media and Interaction, took place at the Department of Communication and Art (DeCA) of the University of Aveiro (UA) on May 29, 2024, with the support of Altice Labs.
The main objective of this event was to present and award multimedia projects developed by students of the Communication Sciences and Technology courses, with the additional purpose of strengthening the connection between academia and local technology companies.
In this second edition, which also marked the 30th anniversary of the pioneering degree in Multimedia and Communication Technologies in Portugal, responsible for defining this field in national higher education, 13 projects previously selected by a jury were presented.
Carlos Figueiredo and Sydney Neto from Altice Labs’ Innovation Strategy and Communication department participated in organizing Media Play 24, awarding a prize to one of the winning teams.
The winning team of the “Business Prize,” offered by Altice Labs, was the team of the et.cetera project, formed by students Carolina Batista, Gabriel Ribeiro, Inês Sucena, Lara Mendes, Leonardo Coelho, and Nathália Magalhães, all from the 1st year of the Master’s in Communication and Web Technologies. The project consists of a household management platform that allows the creation of collaborative shopping lists, with or without the use of Artificial Intelligence.
As recognition for their work, the winners received a Xiaomi Smartwatch.
