On the 12th August, the MUSCLES project (Mobile Ubiquitous Small Cells for Low-cost Energy and Spectrum efficient cloud service delivery) was approved, by P2020, in which Altice Labs participates and is an integral part of an european research project with the same name, already approved by Celtic/EUREKA.

P2020 MUSCLES project (with the duration of 30 months) aims to research, implement and test a platform of LTE mobile networks (-A) autonomous management, with capabilities of self-organization, detection and automatic troubleshooting which are currently being treated manually by the mobile operators, reducing substantially operation and optimization costs.

The Celtic/EUREKA consortium is led by IT Aveiro and the national consortium is led by Eurico Ferreira SA.

MUSCLES will be aligned with the new developments of SON (Self Organizing Networks) technology proposed by 3GPP standardization organization. With this project Altice Labs intends to investigate SON solutions that prepare its ALTAIA (OSS) platform for the challenges posed by network densification that mobile operators will face in the near future.
