In the context of the Always On 2019 programme, it was decided to create one-off sports tournaments – Gamelabs – where the first initiative consisted of a squash tournament. The challenge was launched for the entire company and 12 collaborators dared to participate in this tournament.
From the end of October 2019 to January 2020, a total of 5 squash matches were played, using the swiss system, which ensured that, every fortnight, each participant played a game with an opponent that was being determined by the system used and managed by the logOUT team.
Altice Labs offered free access to the squash court at the University of Aveiro, which was one of our partners in this tournament, not only for the support given during the matches, but also for the personalized tickets made for the tournament.
This tournament ended on the 23rd January, with João Carvalho from the Operations Support Systems department as the winner. All participants chose a player for the honorable mention title and, who got the most votes was Ricardo Cadime, also from the Operations Support Systems department, for his companionship, for the loaned rackets and for teaching and enthusing those who started, for the first time, in the practice of the sport in this tournament.
