Get down, protect, and wait were the three self-protection gestures that Altice Labs employees, individually or in groups, performed on November 14th, at 11:14 a.m., as soon as they heard the alarms go off in the various buildings on the Aveiro campus.

“A Terra Treme” (The Earth Shakes) is a national awareness exercise for seismic risk promoted every year by ANEPC (Autoridade Nacional de Emergência e Proteção Civil), which is the Portuguese National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, in which various entities, including companies, are invited to participate. For one minute, citizens are made aware “that they live in a society at risk, challenging them to engage in the process of building safer and more disaster-resilient communities”.

Altice Labs decided to join this initiative because it believes that knowing the procedures to follow in the event of an earthquake is something that everyone should be familiar with. Furthermore, taking part in this exercise is another way of testing the Altice Labs’ Safety Plan, where the occurrence of an earthquake is also one of the emergencies considered.
