The 121st TechDay @ Altice Labs took place on the 5th of May, under the theme “Digital Wellbeing”. Joaquim Cunha, from Health Cluster Portugal, was the speaker who introduced  this subject. He brought us a vision of the future of health, very connected to technologies and trends regarding the expected evolution. He referred to the healthcare of the future as disruptive compared to the past, supported by digitization and the intelligent use of data and truly focused on the patient and the citizen. Other characteristics that the new paradigms must embrace were also highlighted, such as universal access, freedom of choice for the patient, increased efficiency, among others. He concluded by saying that we are on the threshold of a new and fantastic health.

Francisco Nogueira, from Glooma, presented some innovative devices such as the glove for breast self-palpation, a winning project of the AIIA 2021. He also mentioned that, in general, Glooma is committed to prevention as a support tool for medical decision-making.

Hugo Alexandre Ferreira, from Nevaro, spoke about his company’s solutions, namely a tool for preventing professional exhaustion syndrome (“burnout”). Here the paradigm is more years and better quality of life.

João Marcos Guimarães, from Datalife, spoke about his company’s activity in developing algorithms for the diagnosis of several health problems. Datalife’s vision is the use of Big Data associated with artificial intelligence algorithms for decision-making and diagnosis, since the amount of information generated will be so high that clinicians will only be able to take advantage of it with the help of these tools.

Telma Mota, from the Digital, Internet and Television department of Altice Labs, presented the company’s solutions in the health area, which began in 1998 with the Medigraf platform, followed by the “Telemonitoring” version of SmartAL in 2015 and the “Care” version in 2022, the latter with access to teleconsultations, location, monitoring of chronic diseases, among others. The use of 5G, which is fundamental to enhance the effectiveness of these solutions, was also highlighted.

Finally, Ana Patrícia Monteiro, from Altice Labs’ Innovation and Technology Strategy department, closed this TechDay by summarizing the speakers’ interventions.
