The 120th TechDay @ Altice Labs was held on the 21st of April, under the theme “Data-Driven Organizations”.

Mário Rui Costa, from the Innovation and Technology Strategy department and responsible for Altice Labs’ Portfolio, Technology, Network Architecture and Systems area, opened the session referring that most organizations have a wealth of data which, if well used, may improve their efficiency. Altice Labs, in collaboration with the Department of Informatics of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, has invested in the definition of an organization, processes and technological framework that allow following the path to become a data-driven organization.

Vitor Ribeiro, invited assistant of the Department of Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, was the next speaker and focused his intervention on the data governance dimension, presenting its constituent components, organizational scope, mechanisms and consequences, as well as some examples of existing frameworks in the market.

Finally, Rui Filipe Pedro, lead data scientist of Altice Labs’ Innovation and Technology Strategy department, focused his presentation on the data architecture dimension, exemplifying it with use cases from Altice Labs’ areas and products. According to Rui Filipe Pedro, the chosen architecture is strongly associated to the data governance model and the option for standardized frameworks leads to greater efficiency in the use of resources.

The session was concluded with the usual moment for questions to the speakers, who had the opportunity to clarify doubts related to the data responsibility structure, compliance with the RGPD and the articulation of the proposed architecture with emerging technologies.
