Data has been the cornerstone of the technological revolution — powering algorithms and enabling the creation of countless disruptive solutions. This was the central theme of the conference “Data: The Foundation of Technological Transformation”, organized by TestBed Espaço de Dados – X (#ED-X) on the opening day of Aveiro Tech Week, where Altice Labs participated not only as the main sponsor but also as an innovation partner.
The session brought together a diverse panel of experts from multiple sectors, including Filipe Cabral Pinto from Altice Labs’ Innovation Strategy and Communication (ISC) team. The discussion focused on the full value creation cycle — from data collection to its practical application in the market.
The conference began with presentations by João Machado from the Aveiro City Council, Manuel Costa from Sooma, and Vasco Lagarto from TICE.PT, who emphasized the critical role of data and testbeds in fostering innovation. This was followed by Isabel Borges (TICE.PT), who introduced the ED-X Test Bed initiative.
In a panel discussion moderated by Vasco Lagarto, Filipe Cabral Pinto joined Luís Carlos Fernandes da Costa and Filipe Frasquilho from IP Telecom, Jorge Carvalho from Vodafone, and Lucas Simionato de Oliveira from NOS SGPS, for a conversation on how data drives value creation and technological innovation.
During the discussion, Filipe Cabral Pinto presented the architecture of the #6G-PATH project, highlighting its integration with #Gaia-X and #IDSA frameworks — within the broader context of data sovereignty and cloud service interoperability — to strengthen trust across the digital ecosystem.
The event concluded with insights from Mário Campolargo, Guest Professor at the University of Aveiro and former Secretary of State for Digitalization and Administrative Modernization (Government of Portugal, 2022–2024), who shared his perspective on data sovereignty in Europe and the pathways for Portugal to fully embrace digital transformation.
