In March, Altice Labs participated in several events at universities and polytechnics, which proved to be enriching and innovative at many levels:

University of Trás os Montes and Alto Douro

UTAD SUMMIT 2022 – 1st Edition
Event held on the 10th of March by 5 student groups of this university (NEEGI, NEEI, NEMACD, NECM and NEUTAD) with the aim of joining the Pedagogical Conferences of the participating courses and provide an opportunity to enrich the professional and personal training of students. Altice Labs was represented at its Job Fair, presenting some projects it has underway in the area of e-Health and Next Generation Gateways. More than two dozen students showed their interest at the booth and left their contacts to receive proposals for academic and summer internship projects.

Higher Technical Institute

SINFO 22 – Semana Informática do Instituto Superior Técnico
Altice Labs was represented at the 29th edition of this event together with Altice Group at the Job Fair that took place on the 10th of March. Being considered the biggest free technological conference in Portugal, Altice Labs presented its newly created Gateways test engine, which was considered very appealing to engineering students.

CONNECT – Semana do Empreendedorismo
Altice Labs was at “Empower your project” on the 30th of March, as part of the CONNECT – Semana do Empreendedorismo which took place at the Higher Technical Institute. This event consisted of a dynamic moment with the purpose of presenting projects developed by the students of this Institute, in order to receive feedback from juries.

Polytechnic Institute of Leiria

S2E – Semana de Emprego e Empreendedorismo
Altice Labs was represented in the IV edition of this event on the 22nd and 23rd of March, in a mixed regime, online and in person. This week intended to support the students of this entity with work proposals, internship or others that allow them to amplify and consolidate their academic and personal skills. It was possible to promote the projects and open positions in Altice Labs, as well as, present the technological capacity and all the work potentiality for students and recent graduates.

University of Algarve

UAlg Careers Fair – 5th edition
On the 23rd and 24th of March, Altice Labs was represented in an in person fair by Fernando Afonso, from Altice Labs’ Digital, Internet and Television department, in an institutional presentation by Pedro Miguel Matos, from Altice Labs’ Network Systems Development department, and by an online fair. This initiative was aimed at presenting the work and internship projects in Altice Labs@Olhão.

Online Workshop – 5G
An online workshop on the theme “5G” was held during the afternoon of the 23rd of March. The session was led by Pedro Miguel Matos, from Altice Labs’ Network Systems Development department, who made a brief presentation about Altice Labs, and Francisco Fontes, from Altice Labs’ Technology and Innovation Strategy department, who presented the 5G technology. This event was organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Engineering Institute of the University of Algarve in collaboration with Altice Labs. In addition to sharing knowledge, the aim of this type of initiative is to bring the Olhão Hub closer to the University of Algarve.

University of Aveiro

DETIConnect
Event organized by the Electronics, Telecommunications and Telematics Association of the University of Aveiro, on the 16th of March. In order to promote networking with the students, we were represented in this event with a booth where Fernando Morgado, from Altice Labs’ Technology and Innovation Strategy department, had the opportunity to present some demonstrators from Altice Labs. Simultaneously, interviews with final-year students took place, allowing us to present opportunities for master’s dissertation projects and professional internships.
It was a highly attended event, with more than one hundred students in contact with Altice Labs.

EESTech Challenge Aveiro
This event, which took place on 18th of March, consisted of a european technology competition which aimed to create opportunities for students in the field of Electronic Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS).
In this event Altice Labs stood out by performing two activities. Firstly, there was a lecture conducted by Carlos Guilherme Araújo and João Tiago Guerrinha, from Altice Labs’ Operations Support Systems department, entitled “How artificial intelligence and machine learning enable Autonomous Operation in DSPs”.
Additionally, there was a networking session with the students, which included the company’s Pitch.

In Touch – Networking Today, a Job Tomorrow
Held on the 23rd of March by the Aveiro Industrial Engineering and Management Association, Altice Labs was represented with a booth at the Job Fair and, simultaneously, in Pitch sessions where the participants “self promote” their personal brand to the company as if they were in a job interview and, afterwards, receive feedback (positive points, points to improve, etc). This event had the support of Catarina Chaves, from Altice Labs’ Business Development and Support department.

University of Beira Interior

31ª edição das Jornadas de Informática
This event was developed around two distinct moments: a lecture entitled “5G – New services: Opportunities and challenges” carried out by João Bastos, from Altice Labs’ Technology and Innovation Strategy department, as well as, a Job Fair dedicated to students of the computer engineering area of this academic institution. Once again, this event aimed to promote academic, professional and summer internship projects.
