The festivities of the Municipality of Vendas Novas, which celebrated this year the 55th anniversary of its elevation to municipality, took place between the 6th and 10th September 2017.

Aware of the importance of local and regional development for the country’s development, and within the scope of the internal initiatives for innovation and development of solutions for the so-called Smart Cities, Altice Labs was represented in the event through a stand presentation and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Municipality of Vendas Novas, with the goal of identifying urban services and other local challenges where Smart Cities solutions can be implemented.

This MoU covers the areas of environmental sustainability, resources efficiency, waste management, mobility, participation and citizenship, leisure, safety and security, education, health and active aging, tourism and culture, in which the partners commit to work and find solutions.

Altice Labs was present at the event with a stand exhibit that included a virtual visit to Altice Labs through a drone video, an animation with a presentation of areas and research and development projects (IoT, 5G, PON and services platforms), and also a presentation of the latest innovative fiber optic solutions (GPON and NGPON2), with the exhibition of some equipment for the central office (OLT) and the customer’s house (ONT).

A waste management solution from Evox, Altice Labs’ partner company, and an exemplifying animation were also shown,  in the context of solutions for Smart Cities.
