On the 6th and 7th February 2017, a Hackathon – TM Forum 139: hack – that took place in Cascais was attended by a team from Altice Labs: Isabel Borges, José António Almeida, Gonçalo Gaspar and Hugo Pais.

There were 8 teams that remained until the end of the event and had participants from various areas, operators, suppliers, universities, etc. from all over the globe.

The challenge of 139: hack was subordinated to the IoT / Smart Cities theme with a demonstrator implementation that used the Open APIs of TMForum and Huawei. Open data APIs from Lisbon city and from Fiware were also provided.

The Altice Labs team “DaGama team” developed an application – “TourHere” – destined to the tourist sector in Lisbon and used 6 Open APIs of Huawei, 3 of TMForum and several of Lisbon city.

The application allows the tourist to register their preferences, among various categories: bars, restaurants, monuments, museums, etc. for the different periods of the day. The application then draws a list of activities based on their preference, time of day, and geographic positioning, recommending various activities. The tourist can also create an account and based on the existing balance can buy tickets for isolated or a bundle of activities.

The jury, consisting of a Vodafone member, a TMForum element and another Huawei element, distinguished us with an honorable mention, and the 1st place was attributed to Altice Labs by the audience present at event!
