Altice Labs attended the workshop on Quantum Communication Networks, organized by the PTQCI – Portuguese Quantum Communications Infrastructure consortium, at the Renato Araújo Auditorium of the University of Aveiro (UA).

This event, held on February 26 and 27, aimed to bring together various stakeholders in the field of quantum technologies to discuss and share ideas on the development and implementation of quantum communication infrastructures at the national and European levels.

On the first day, the opening session was attended by Ana Margarida Almeida, from Altice Labs’ Innovation and Digital Strategy department, along with Mário Campolargo, Secretary of State for Digitalization and Administrative Modernization of Portugal, Nuno Borges de Carvalho, Director of DETI at UA, José Carlos Pedro, President of the Telecommunications Institute, and Admiral Gameiro Marques from the National Security Office (GNS).

Ana Margarida Almeida highlighted the importance of Altice Labs’ commitment to this consortium for the development and implementation of future communication networks and emphasized the unprecedented levels of efficiency and security that quantum communication allows.

On the second day of the event, it was Rui Calé’s turn, from Altice Labs’ Innovation and Digital Strategy department, who, in partnership with Deimos, gave the presentation “Software Defined Multivendor QKD Network – A futureproof QCI”, in which he described the fundamentals of what will be the first operational quantum key distribution network in Portugal, whose design and implementation is taking place within the scope of the PTQCI project.
