On the 18th and 19th April, UTAD’s IT Days were held in Vila Real. At the invitation of the organization, Altice Labs participated in these conferences, with Francisco Fontes, from the Technology Coordination and Innovation Direction, presenting the theme “5G and Future Networks”.

In this presentation the 5G main characteristics (architecture and new radio interface) were highlighted, as well as the use cases that are made possible.

The 5G was framed in a logic of evolution for Future Networks, where “softwarization” of the network, through technologies such as the SDN and NFV, assumes relevance.

The current state of the art was also presented, with reference to some 5G experiments already performed.

Given the context of the event, it should be noted the relevance of this theme to future job opportunities especially for software developers.
