On the 15th May, the Critical Thinking Day was held at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD).

This was an event that brought together several activity areas, such as health, tourism, engineering, food production, veterinary, arts and culture and teaching, with the participation of students from the 3rd cycle up to university education.

The purpose of this event was focused on how applying critical thinking to existing problems in various sectors could help find innovative and out of the box solutions. The various companies presented several scenarios that included problems and the various students groups, always multidisciplinary and in role play, applied the methodology of critical thinking to achieve solutions that solve the proposed problem.

Altice Labs proposed 3 scenarios:

– How to retain and increase the number of customers having in account the OTTs offer;
– The impact of Artificial Intelligence in the telecommunications industry;
– The impact of advertising on the user experience.

The organization of this event chose the advertising scenario to explore the application of critical thinking methodology, and several solutions were presented in this context.

Isabel Borges, from the Innovation and Technology Strategy department, was present as a guest jury to select the best work presented at the event.
