A plenary meeting was held in Heraklion, Greece, on March 9th and 10th, as part of the 5G-EPICENTRE project, which began in January of 2021 and ends in December of 2023. Altice Labs was represented by Carlos Marques, member of the Innovation Strategy and Digital department.
The H2020 5G-EPICENTRE project, led by Airbus Defence and Space, is building a 5G experimental platform that consists of 4 testbeds (Aveiro, Barcelona, Malaga, Berlin), with the purpose of evaluating and demonstrating the advantages and potential of 5G technologies over a diverse set of applications in the Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) area. A set of 8 use cases is being developed on this infrastructure.
Altice Labs is focused on evaluating the 5G testbed initiated in the 5G-VINNI project, with special emphasis on topics such as Edge Computing, containerization, and network slicing, with the goal of meeting the requirements of the PPDR scenarios to be explored. The development, evaluation, and demonstration of 5G-EPICENTRE use cases on this testbed is another key purpose.
