The 3rd edition of the PLUGTESTS NFV was held from the 29th May to 8th June and took place in Sophia Antipolis, France. This event, organized by ETSI, aims to bring together component suppliers in the area of network virtualization (NFV), promoting integration and interoperability between virtualization infrastructures (VIMs), providers of virtual network functions (VNFs) and management and orchestration tools (MANO).
Altice Labs was present at this event through Carlos Parada and Alberto Rocha, representing the MANO SONATA tool, which is the result of the development carried out on the H2020 SONATA project, a work that is now being extended in the H2020 5GTANGO project. SONATA is a tool that is available in open source (https://github.com/sonata-nfv), and that compares well with similar tools in the community, namely OSM, OpenBaton, Tacker, Cloudify, or ONAP, among others.
During these 2 weeks, the SONATA team was able to describe and load more than a dozen VNFs, as well as to create complex network services (NS) by combining VNFs from multiple manufacturers, instantiating these services in several of the available VIMs.
As a corollary, a demonstration of the platform’s ability to scale a NS in a scenario of load increase was performed, adding computational capacity and readjusting the service logic, without any disturbance in the execution of the service.
