“Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Health” was the theme of yet another edition of the Digital Conversations, launched by Inova-Ria in partnership with CER-Aveiro (Business Council of the Region of Aveiro).

This edition took place on the 21st May, between 5pm and 6pm, broadcasted via social media (Youtube and Facebook) with a panel that was attended by Pedro Neves, from the Technology and Innovation Strategy department at Altice Labs, Aurélio Campino from INESC TEC/FEUP (Institute of Systems and Computers Engineering, Technology and Science), Pedro Brás and Sérgio Matos from IEETA/UA (Institute of Electronic and Telematics Engineering of Aveiro). The session was moderated by Pedro Roseiro, from TICE (Information, Communication and Electronic Technologies).

Pedro Roseiro started this conversation with Paulo Brás by addressing the COVID-19 theme, with the data tracking that is provided by various applications, the data cross-checking, the existing data protection solutions. The controversial topic on the disclosure of user data in the health area in pandemic situations and the measures to be taken. It was also debated with the intervention of Aurélio Campino who explained that the data provided by hospitals is anonymized, and there are also codes of ethics that are being respected. Sérgio Matos contributed by talking about the loss of privacy.

Pedro Neves explained which tools exist in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) area and how they are being used in telecommunications use cases. The perspective between what already exists and what may exist in personalized medicine, using AI in the health areas respecting individuality and protecting the data of each one, was also discussed.
