“Conferência I&D na Defesa e VI Encontro Anual de Estudantes da AFCEA em Portugal” was held on the 30th of September at Instituto Universitário Militar (IUM), with both live sessions and remote broadcasting via videoconference.
Francisco Fontes, from Altice Labs’ Innovation Strategy and Digital department, represented the company in a round table that debated the “innovation and opportunities of R&D projects in national defense”.
His intervention focused on the description of Altice Labs’ current collaboration in the defense area in the field of quantum communications, in the scope of the European project DISCRETION. On the other hand, he also characterized the opportunities and challenges related to digitalization in defense, taking as a reference the lessons of society’s growing dependence on digital. The aforementioned DISCRETION project contributes in this area by taking advantage of quantum physical phenomena to increase network security.
This event had about 100 participants and aimed to promote the sharing of information among researchers, companies, users and promoters of innovation in the defense sector.
