Altice Labs was present on April 13 at a debate on the automation of glaucoma diagnosis, titled “How algorithms can help in the diagnosis of glaucoma”, organized by the Cognitive group at UC Exploratório Ciência Viva Coimbra.

Altice Labs has played a fundamental role in this area, in close collaboration with the Centro Cirúrgico de Coimbra (CCC), to explore innovative approaches in the accurate and timely detection of glaucoma, one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide.

During the event, innovative advances in the automation of glaucoma diagnosis were announced, revealing the transformative potential of Machine Learning algorithms in this diagnosis. António Travassos, an ophthalmologist at CCC, and Rita Oliveira, from Altice Labs’ Business and Operations Support Systems department, shared their insights and the promising results of this project, highlighting the power of technology to improve the accuracy and efficiency of glaucoma diagnosis.

The event also featured the participation of Paulo Firmeza, General Manager of Altice Labs, Luis Cortesão, and Maria Manuel Castro, from the Business and Operations Support Systems department.
