The Regional Council of the Madeira Computer Engineering College promoted, on the 7th of July, at the Pestana Casino Park Hotel, in Funchal, a debate involving the sharing of experiences in the area of computer engineering.

The event aimed to divulge and foster the quality, collaboration and professionalism of the sector in the autonomous region of Madeira.

Iúri Viveiros, from the Network and Platform Services Directorate (SRP), represented Altice Labs by making a presentation on precision agriculture for banana cultivation. Under discussion was the implementation of BASE (BAnana SEnsing), a project in the area of precision agriculture promoted by GESBA-Empresa de Gestão do Sector da Banana and co-financed by PRODERAM (Rural Development Program of the Autonomous Region of Madeira 2020), which aims to improve quality, increase production and enhance the product and brand “Madeira Banana”. In addition to GESBA, the project partners are Altice Labs, the University of Madeira and ARDITI (Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation).

In this project, Altice Labs is responsible for the specification, acquisition and integration of weather stations, soil and air quality sensors, leaf wetness sensors and solar radiation sensors, and their integration in the Live!Green data platform.
