Altice Labs has been recognized as the Portuguese company with the highest number of patent applications in the 6th edition of the “Barómetro Inventa – Patentes Made in Portugal”. With a total of 18 submissions – seven of them international under the Patent Cooperation Treaty and two filed with the European Patent Office – the company reinforces its position as a benchmark in technological innovation in Portugal.

This recognition highlights Altice Labs’ sustained investment and ongoing commitment to Research and Development (R&D) as a strategic pillar of the business, transforming scientific and technological knowledge into added value in a highly competitive and rapidly evolving sector such as telecommunications.

“Being highlighted in this ranking, just behind the country’s most prestigious universities – which are, by nature, ecosystems of creation and invention – shows that Altice Labs remains at the forefront of innovation, especially in the telecommunications sector,” says Paulo Firmeza, General Manager of Altice Labs. “Continuous investment in R&D is essential for us to keep developing pioneering, effective, and robust solutions that meet market needs,” he adds.

In 2025, one of Altice Labs’ patent applications was granted in both Europe and the United States, securing intellectual property protection for the invention “Method for Configuring a FTTH Distribution Network Cell.” This technology optimizes fiber‑optic networks, enabling more efficient infrastructure management with reduced costs, increased network resilience, and a lower environmental footprint.

Over the past five years, the company has strengthened its innovation trajectory with 90 patent applications submitted, and 18 patents granted, reinforcing its relevance in both the national and international intellectual property landscape. Altice Labs currently maintains 90 active patent applications across different markets and technological domains, with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence/GenAI and Ultra‑Broadband Optical Networks, two areas that are shaping the future of networks and digital services.

With an innovation strategy closely aligned with global trends, Altice Labs will continue to invest in intellectual property protection as a way to ensure competitiveness, create market value, and deliver impact on the future of telecommunications networks.
