Altice Labs was distinguished as Best Company of the Year in the 2018 edition of the 500 Greatest and Best Companies Awards. The title was awarded this Thursday, the 6th December, at the annual awards event, which has highlighted more than a dozen companies through two special awards and in 13 key markets of the national economy.

“This is a recognition of the innovation ecosystem that we have maintained, of the strong connection to the academy and with industrial partners and micro, small and medium enterprises. It is an award for portuguese engineering”, said Alcino Lavrador, Altice Labs’ general director, during the award ceremony.

In addition to the Best Company of the Year award (which Altice Labs received for the second time), the company that is part of the Altice Portugal universe (led by Alexandre Fonseca) simultaneously won the Best Company award in the technology, media and telecommunications market – the fifth time that this happens – in a ranking followed by IBM Portugal and Coficab Portugal.

Alcino Lavrador also emphasized the dedication and daring of all the company’s collaborators  who “challenged the big multinationals in the sector”, underlining the company’s resistance to the “convulsions of the last years that are known to everyone”.

“A country is not the most evolved by having access to the most advanced technology, but by knowing how to create it”, he concluded, referring to the words of the man who was at the origin of PT Inovação, José Ferreira Pinto Basto. “That’s what we try to do every day”, he added.
