On November 20th, 2024, the Museum of Communications in Lisbon hosted another session of the lecture series “A Cycle That Is Not a Cycle,” organized by the Portuguese Communications Foundation. The event, centered on the theme “The Future of Artificial Intelligence,” featured the participation of Altice Labs.
Aimed at high school students, these informal conversations have the purpose of stimulating the critical and autonomous reflection on the relationship between humanity and technology.
The debate brought together Filipe Cabral Pinto, from the Innovation Strategy and Communication department at Altice Labs, and Catarina Barata, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Institute of Systems and Robotics, with moderation by João Salema de Sequeira, a specialist in political strategy and event organization.
The speakers explored the growing impact of artificial intelligence on everyday life, citing examples such as ChatGPT, social networking algorithms, and home banking systems. The discussion also addressed questions about the future of the job market and the ethical challenges associated with artificial intelligence.
The session gathered 60 participants in person and was streamed online to 14 schools, involving various classes.
