The 12th edition of the University of Algarve’s Excellence Scholarships awarded this year a record number of 117 students. Once again, Altice Labs joined this initiative by awarding scholarships to two students, represented at this public ceremony by Fernando Afonso from the Strategy and Digital Innovation department and Célio Abreu from the Network and Platform Services department.

The event took place in the Grande Auditório Caixa Geral de Depósitos, on the Gambelas Campus in Faro, on the afternoon of February 8th.

Since they began being awarded in the 2012/13 academic year, these scholarships consist of the full payment of the tuition fee for the 1st year of a Bachelor’s degree and/or Integrated Master’s degree and have already awarded a total of 667 students, totaling support of over 551 thousand euros. This edition saw the participation of 59 companies and entities and monetary support of around 81 thousand euros.

Altice Labs wants to maintain a close relationship with universities and intends to continue rewarding merit and academic excellence. Proof of this is the Alcino Lavrador award for university students, announced by Ana Figueiredo during the announcement of the winners of the 7th edition of the AIIA. This award will start being given in 2024 and aims to honor Alcino Lavrador, former general director of Altice Labs, who for over 15 years helped the academic community and was the bridge with companies.
