Altice Labs took part in the kick-off meeting regarding the 6G-VERSUS European project, held in Malaga on January 21 and 22, 2025. This project aims to carry out large-scale trials of 6G technology in five strategic sectors, distributed through six pilots, with sustainability as its central principle.

The event brought together 34 partners from 10 countries, including Altice Labs, represented by Gonçalo Machado and Bruno Cabral from the Digital Platforms and Services (DPS) department. The consortium includes researchers and experts in 6G and sustainability, involving 13 academic and research institutions, 10 industrial partners, 9 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and 2 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

Over the next three years, a 6G-ready application framework integrating three key components – Verticals, Artificial Intelligence, and Networks – will be developed. Real use cases will be tested in six pilot clusters to assess performance, impact on sustainability, scalability, and viability of business models.

The six pilots will have different research focuses: in Bulgaria – AI-driven optimization of distributed renewable energy; in Greece – Collaborative robotics for search and rescue; in Spain – Immersive telepresence actuator for field operations; in Portugal – Sustainable and secure port infrastructures; in France – Data-driven strategies for water and waste management in critical infrastructures; and in Finland – Energy self-sustainable 5G base station.

Altice Labs will play a crucial role in the project, applying its expertise in data science to develop a common framework of AIOps/MLOps. In the Portuguese pilot cluster, the company will also leverage the Live!Data platform and the resources of the B5G testbed at the Altice Labs Campus.
