Altice Labs was at the XXII Annual Meeting of SMEs in the Telecommunications sector, which took place on the 13th November in Lisbon, at the Sana Malhoa Hotel, under the theme “High Speed ​​Networks and Low Latency”.

The event, which had the participation of more than 150 companies, was attended by the President of ANACOM and the Vice President of IDC Portugal.

The contribution of advanced computing, the new 5G mobile network generation and artificial intelligence, to the innovation and growth of SMEs was the main theme of this meeting, where hundreds of participants, mostly businessmen and decision makers from national SMEs, were able to discuss the vital contribution of new technologies to the challenges of modernization and growth of the economy and, not least, to boosting entrepreneurship in technological areas.

Also under discussion were the new business opportunities as well as the increasing requirement of qualification and skills that are now required of SMEs in the telecommunications sector in Portugal.

Francisco Fontes from Altice Labs’ Technological Coordination and Innovation department participated as keynote speaker in a panel on the theme “5G opportunities and challenges”. In addition to a brief description of the technology, some of the transformations necessary to put it into operation were also identified.

In addition, Francisco Fontes presented a brief summary of 5G’s development status with emphasis on the transformation and evolution of services, as well as new business opportunities for SMEs, based in the new 5G networks.
