In the context of the event’s opening session, which was attended by Alexandre Fonseca, Executive President of Altice Portugal, José Ribau Esteves, Mayor of Aveiro, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Rector of the University of Aveiro, and Jun Niimi, Ambassador of Japan in Portugal, it was Alice who led the guided tour of the Altice Labs booth.
To anticipate an increasingly virtual, connected and intelligent future, the Alice robot was shown at TechDays Aveiro 2018, materializing the partnership between Altice Labs and Follow Inspiration, which developed the follow me hardware and services.
Alice has a display for content viewing and a touch screen for interaction. It is through its ability to interact, whether through screen or voice, that this robot responds to general questions made by visitors. But Alice was also prepared to present all of Altice Portugal’s R&D solutions during the three days of TechDays Aveiro 2018, namely in the areas of 5G Networks, Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Assistants (BOTs), Internet of Things and Smart Cities and Digital and Interactive TV.
Alice is one of the stars of this TechDays Aveiro 2018. On the 8th October, and in anticipation of the event, Altice Portugal, through Altice Labs, had already staged another moment of technological innovation. In association with Aveiro City Council and Ericsson, the company presented the 5G Mini Bus Use Case, an autonomous driving vehicle that, prior to attending the technology event, was exclusively and for the first time in circulation in the city of Aveiro.
This was the 3rd edition of TechDays and for the 3rd consecutive year Altice Labs was the main sponsor. “Since TechDays Aveiro is the largest national technology forum and an agent that facilitates and accelerates innovation to improve the quality of life and economic development, it is an opportunity for Altice Portugal to reinforce the importance given to local partnerships in the sustainability of its innovation ecosystem, and thereby contribute to the growth of the global economy “, said Alexandre Fonseca, Executive President of Altice Portugal.
“Altice Labs has a valuable heritage that has been enriched since 1950 in the anticipation of the future, in the telecommunications sector, sustained by the constant creativity, perseverance and innovation of its collaborators, passed from generation to generation in the name of knowledge transformation into value to society. This is the global vision that is transferred to all Altice Labs R&D solutions highlighted in this event with a presence in Aveiro”, said Alcino Lavrador, Altice Labs’ general director.
