Nonagon, the first Science and Technology Park in the Autonomous Region of Açores, celebrated its 7th anniversary on the 5th of September with a program dedicated to the importance of the digital transition.
To mark this date, a workshop was organised that brought together key industrial and academic partners, as well as incubated companies, in a forum to share experiences and identify future opportunities for collaboration.
Pedro Carvalho, from Altice Labs’ Innovation Strategy and Digital department, presented the company and how it created and maintains its innovation ecosystem. He also shared success cases of collaboration with Universities and Startups, with the aim of creating more innovative products for the markets in which it operates.
The main portuguese science and technology parks and their impact on the growth of employment and innovation was another topic addressed in the workshop. The debate was led by Hugo Coelho, president of the Tecparques Board.
The event’s program ended with the intervention of Andrea Mills, a north american consultant in the field of business innovation, who presented a disruptive vision on how the knowledge of application domains and technologies can intersect to generate new innovative products and services.
Nonagon is the first Science and Technology Park in the Autonomous Region of the Açores. It is located in the city of Lagoa, on the island of S. Miguel. Its goal is to become a structural organization in technological promotion and the training of qualified human capital in the field of information systems and communications, monitoring and observation of land, space and sea. It also intends to become a catalyst agent of synergies in the processes of technological transfer of the innovation ecosystem of the Azores.
