The Broadband World Forum (BBWF), regarded as one of the largest annual telecommunications events, took place from the 15th to 17th October 2019 in Amsterdam.
This year’s BBWF edition attracted over 4100 attendees from 1500 companies representing 95 different countries and 150 technology suppliers exhibitors.
Altice Labs was once again present at the event with a booth showcasing several technological solutions for the next generation of fiber optic networks (PON), with special focus on the Fiber Gateway with the Smart Mesh solution, with Wi-Fi 6 and RDK-B technology.
Parallel to the fair with the exhibition space, a conference was attended by Altice Labs. Paulo Mão-Cheia of the Network Systems Development department participated in a panel whose theme was “PON… GPON… XGPON… XGS-PON… The Future of PON”. Rui Silva, from the Network Systems Development department, was a speaker with the presentation “GW (xPON & DOCSIS) Wi-Fi 6 and Smart Mesh Wi-Fi powered by RDK-B”. André Brízido, also from the Network Systems Development department, secured the participation of Altice Labs in the “Deep Dive on OB-BBA – Multi-Vendor SDN Broadband Network” session with a demonstration of the Cloud Central Office (CloudCO) architecture and the Open Broadband – Broadband Access Abstraction (OB-BAA) project of the Broadband Forum with one of Altice Labs’ XGS-PON devices. This demo was available during the 3 days of the event and consisted in providing a “Zero Touch” Internet service in the context of an SDN/NFV architecture.
