The second session on product management was held on the 10th July 2017 at Altice Labs. This session focused on Altaia, a product of the NOSSIS suite.

Hosted by its product manager Luís Castro, from the Operations Support Systems Direction, the session was intended to make known Altaia’s business model and its potential market and competitors.

After the presentation, which lasted around 20 minutes, there was time for interaction with the audience. The problems that Altaia intends to solve, the partnership relations, especially in R&D projects, the comparison with the competition and product differentiation in relation to its competitors, as well as the aspects related to the product evolution and the capture of new products clients, were examples of the topics covered.

According to Luís Castro “This initiative is very important so that a product manager can internally share his vision and strategy for the product, gather feedback and be better aligned with his presentation practices, communication, strategy and roadmap“.

The evolution of the product support infrastructure, both agile and easily scalable, independence of the database type, the development of Machine Learning and Analytics packs, capable of automating processes that are still executed today by human operators, and the gains that can be obtained from these evolutions, were subjects discussed during the session.

Being Altaia a product with Performance Manager & Service Assurance components as well as Customer Experience Management (CEM), and for this reason with a wide range of potentially competing offers, it is relevant to know the most difficult use cases to operators in order to present differentiating value propositions from competitors.

On the other hand, the adequate dimensioning of support efforts, customization and evolution of the product in order to guarantee the satisfaction of existing customers without compromising the evolution of the offer is a concern that cannot be neglected.

As in the previous session, the problem of defining a pricing strategy associated with a clear product positioning was mentioned as one of the key aspects for obtaining new customers. Luís Castro also mentioned the importance of participation in R & D projects, essential in the acquisition of strategic know-how for a product that intends to present innovative features in the way it addresses its use cases.

These sessions are intended to create a debate around the products that are developed at  Altice Labs as well as to highlight the role of the product manager and are sponsored by  Altice Labs General Manager. The next session will take place on the 18th September.
