GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) was the theme of the 88th Tech Day, which took place at Altice Labs’ amphitheater, in Aveiro, on the 22nd March 2017.

The 88th Tech Day focused on the theme related to the new EU regulation on the protection of private data, which will come into force on the 25th May 2018.

It should be noted that, from that date, all companies processing data on european citizens should comply with this regulation.

At this Tech Day, there were answers to questions such as: What is private data in the eyes of the new regulation? Who will be affected? What is the difference between processing and data control? Does Altice Labs need a responsible for data protection?

The event was attended by João Ribeiro, from the National Data Protection Commission, who made a general presentation of the new European Union Regulation on personal data protection, focusing on the main differences related to the portuguese legislation in force.

Ricardo Pinto, from Winprovit, presented the impact to companies, in terms of process management and evidence production that show compliance with the new regulations.

Nuno Neves, from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, focused on the technical strategies to be used in the case of SDN / NFV and its relationship with the Cloud.

Finally, to end the presentations, Alberto Marques Mendes, from Portugal Telecom, spoke about the impact of GDPR on TELCOs, presenting the MEO case as an example.

To close the event, there was room for a panel discussion on the topic, moderated by Nuno Seixas of Altice Labs.
