Altice Labs has taken another step forward in technological innovation with the development of the new Wi-Fi Alliance certified Fiber X7 and FiberGateway Wi-Fi 7 Routers and Extenders. Fully designed and engineered in Portugal, these devices integrate Wi-Fi 7 Triband – one of the most advanced wireless technologies currently available worldwide.
This R&D project, led by the engineering team at Altice Labs, places the company as one of the first to develop cutting-edge Wi-Fi 7 solutions. The new routers and extenders deliver superior connectivity experience, ideally suited for demanding applications such as augmented and virtual reality, online gaming, 8K video streaming, cloud computing and SME connectivity needs.
Designed to ensure optimal coverage throughout the home, including areas with weaker signal strength, these routers and extenders offer a fast, stable, and seamless connection managed by Altice Labs Connected Home Ecosystem, comprising smart mesh wifi, IoT with matter and thread support and several other value added services leveraging the outstanding connectivity this solution provides. The addition of the new 6 GHz band reduces interference and improves overall connection reliability.
“Developing advanced technological solutions entirely in Portugal, and seeing them reach the market with international relevance, is a source of great pride. This project showcases the ability of Portuguese engineering to lead in innovation and respond to the demands of a digital society,” says Paulo Firmeza, Altice Labs’ General Manager.
In addition to technical performance, the routers reflect a strong commitment to sustainability and digital accessibility. They are manufactured using 70% recycled plastics, feature reduced energy consumption, and are packaged in 100% recyclable materials. Their inclusive design incorporates features such as braille markings, fewer LEDs, and improved graphic contrast, making them more intuitive and user-friendly for all.
With the Wi-Fi Alliance certified Fiber X7 and FiberGateway Wi-Fi 7 and Extenders, Altice Labs reaffirms its role as a driver of technological innovation, made in Portugal and designed for the world. These devices reflect the company’s ongoing investment in R&D, sustainability, and the development of solutions that place users at the center of digital transformation.
