The Innovation Strategy and Communication department of Altice Labs has announced the official launch of Data Spaces – X Test Bed Project (better known as ED-X Test Bed).

This Test Bed aims to develop 43 pilot projects by September 2025, providing companies that create data-driven products and services with an infrastructure for demonstration, experimentation, testing, and training. Throughout the project, the goal is to promote effective interoperability between data spaces from different CSPs, as well as foster an environment of exploratory innovation and collaboration.

Another key focus is creating the conditions for communication service providers to work together in promoting interoperability, in compliance with the rules, policies, and regulations of Gaia-X and IDSA.

Gaia-X is a strategic European initiative aimed at strengthening the European Union’s leadership in the data and cloud economy by promoting an open and competitive digital ecosystem on a global scale. Complementing this approach, International Data Spaces (IDS) proposes a secure and sovereign data-sharing system, ensuring that all participants can maximize the value of their data.

The ED-X Test Bed project brings together six partners: Sooma (leader), Altice Labs, IP Telecom, NOS, TICE.PT, and Vodafone. Funded by the PRR (Recovery and Resilience Plan), the project aims to create an interconnected, secure, reliable, and scalable data ecosystem.
