Altice Labs participated in the Final Conference of the VR2Care Project, held on June 25 and 26, 2024, in Porto. The event was organized by the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) and the Venerable Third Order of Saint Francis of Porto.

VR2Care, part of the Horizon 2020 program, aims to innovate home care by bridging the gap between technological innovation and practical application. The project explores the use of interactive technologies to promote physical activity and social interaction, using eXtended Reality (XR) to support activities ranging from functional training to rehabilitation, enhancing the user experience with synchronized animations and multimodal interaction.

At this conference, the project’s results were presented and relevant topics discussed by a group of experts. Anne Bajart from the European Commission opened the event, followed by Gonçalo de Vasconcelos e Sousa, Provider of the Venerable Third Order of Saint Francis of Porto, and Aníbal Matos from INESC TEC. Hugo Paredes, the coordinator of VR2Care, presented the project details.

One of the highlights was the roundtable “Interactive Technologies Initiatives,” moderated by Telma Mota from Altice Labs’ Digital Platforms and Services department, featuring experts such as Luis Bravo Martins (XRSI Europe), Aaron Jay (Emagine), Jelle Demanet (XRValley), Maria Vilar (Euromersive), and Fernando Cassola Marques (INESC TEC). Another roundtable, “Active and Healthy Living,” was moderated by Ad van Berlo (Smart Homes), including Sara Gonçalves (Actif) and Elísio Costa (CINTESIS).

Altice Labs’ participation in the VR2Care project reflects its commitment to technological innovation and the development of solutions that improve quality of life, highlighting the importance of collaboration between different institutions to advance the practical application of health and well-being technologies.
