Filipe Cabral Pinto, from the Innovation Strategy and Communication Directorate at Altice Labs, as part of a collective project, received two awards at INOV@UTAD, a Business Ideas Competition at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). This event was organized by the Innovation and Development Center (CIDE) of UTAD and UTAD Solutions Consulting, with the support of the Santander Foundation, in June 2024.

Cabral Pinto won the third prize for the best business idea and an Honorable Mention, the ‘Most Innovative Award,’ aimed at distinguishing the most innovative idea. The winning project, called ‘Water – Challenges and Opportunities,’ is aligned with one of the sustainable development goals, which emphasizes the importance of ensuring the availability and sustainable management of potable water.

This project aims to support water managers, such as Municipal Councils, in making more informed decisions using telemetry and consumption forecasting through Artificial Intelligence mechanisms. The initiative stems from the collaboration between Altice Labs, the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (IPV), and UTAD, which culminated in the creation of a team with common interests oriented towards technology and artificial intelligence.
