The National Institute of Industrial Property has granted Altice Labs three new patents since the beginning of this year. Two patents are for the development of the dual GPON SFP and the dual XGS-PON SFP+, and another, granted in the USA, concerns a new system and method for supporting permanent HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) connections.
The dual GPON SFP and the dual XGS-PON SFP+ enable the connection of two optical fibers to the same port of the same equipment, doubling the number of customers connected per fiber. The system increases the bandwidth per physical interface of the equipment in the telecommunications central, as well as the port density per equipment, allowing for distances greater than 40 km.
The third patent concerns a new system and method for supporting permanent HTTP connections. In other protocols used for equipment management, the management system must send a request to the equipment for it to connect to the system. Only then can the manager send a desired action to the equipment. In practice, with this new patent, that connection is not closed, allowing the server to perform actions on equipment immediately, increasing the speed and efficiency of equipment management.
These achievements consolidate our leadership position in innovation and bring us closer to the goal announced at the 7th anniversary of Altice Labs by the CEO of Altice Portugal, Ana Figueiredo: to have 100 patents submitted by 2030.
