On January 24th, the kickoff meeting of the European project SUNRISE-6G (Sustainable Federation of Research Infrastructures for Scaling-up Experimentation in 6G) took place in Greece. The project started in January 2024 and will last for 36 months. More than 70 people attended this event, with Bruno Santos and André Gomes from the Strategy and Digital Innovation department representing Altice Labs.

The consortium of 29 partners, composed of key industry representatives and renowned scientists, discussed the project’s work plan, identified challenges and risks, and defined the implementation schedule. In the joint opening speech, the importance of this 6G SNS Flagship research project in shaping the future of 6G was emphasized. The partners united to delve into the first steps of this journey and align on common goals.

SUNRISE 6G aims to group 6G test infrastructures into a pan-European facility that supports convergent Test as a Service (TaaS) workflows and tools, a unified catalog of 6G enablers publicly accessible to experimenters, and the integration of vertical applications across domains.
