The 105th Tech Day @ Altice Labs was held on the 4th December, dedicated to the theme “CCO: Cloud Central Office”.

In this session, José Palma, from Altice Portugal’s Engineering and Network Operations department, was the keynote speaker and had the opportunity to talk about the operator’s perspective regarding the valorization of the network edge, which should be endowed with greater adaptability, automation, disaggregation, micro-services, APIs standards, among others, to better keep up with the fast pace of innovation that requires great flexibility and agility from the operator. Thus, the operator’s strategy is to aggregate operations into advanced telco centers, with some layers of network softwarization, some orchestration and cloud infrastructure, before moving on to transforming Central Office (CO) into Cloud Central Office (CCO). The drivers of this evolution will be business cases and applications, especially those that meet 5G use cases.

In this sense, Altice is already conducting some tests and is following the need to reorganize processes and people in order to be able to meet future needs, being evident the need to adopt IT methodologies, namely Agile and continuous integration/continuous deliverable processes (CI/CD).
