A general meeting of the European project MCN (Mobile Cloud Networking) occurred in the past month
The MCN is a project of the European FP7 program. It began in November 2012 and has a duration of 3 years. It involves some of the main European operators and manufacturers.
The main motivation of this project is the convergence of the Telco industry with the Cloud, especially in the mobile area, by carrying for the telecommunications the benefits of the cloud, such as elasticity, on-demand and Pay As You Go.
This paradigm is being used to convert for the cloud the mobile network components, such as EPC, RAN or the subsystem IMS. The availability of these Telco components on a Cloud context makes possible to adapt the resources to the needs, increasing the operations’ efficiency.
The acquired knowledge follows the movement of the conversion of the traditional products into services provided by the Cloud.
