Altice Labs had a visit from Altice USA at its premises on the 25th, 26th and 27th October.

The delegation, headed by Hakim Boubazine, Co-President & COO of Altice USA, and Terry Cordova, EVP Chief Technology Officer, integrated more than 10 company managers of the Altice Group (Cablevision and Suddenlink) and were accompanied by Frank Perrain, from SFR’s processes and service quality direction, and Xavier Darche from Altice.

Having as the main goal the start of a major FTTH project in the United States, the delegation attended on the first day a presentation about the architecture, planning and reality of Portugal Telecom’s fiber network, in which PT’s Engineering team, namely Carlos Bouça and Elsa Reboucho, highlighted how the network is distributed and managed.

This was followed by a visit to the Altice Labs premises in Oiã, to take a closer look at the FTTx equipments, active and passive, where the most recent hardware developments were presented. These equipments, among others, were also highlighted in-loco at Aveiro’s telecommunication central.

The first day of the visit ended with a presentation of Altice Labs and the process and innovation ecosystem of the company.

The second day, dedicated to Network Systems, had the presence of several Altice Labs colaborators who presented in detail the xPON, FTTH, GPON and NGPON2 technology. This day ended with a visit to Altice Labs campus and a presentation of the optical networks, tests, industrialization, environmental certification and prototypes development laboratories.

The third day, dedicated to Operations Support Systems, focused on the NOSSIS architecture, processes and planning tools, data, construction, equipment provisioning and management, with special emphasis in the detection and resolution of client network problems.

The visit ended with a final wrap-up where the next steps and recommendations were defined for the completion of the internationalization project objectives and for the use of Altice Labs technology in the USA.

According to Alcino Lavrador, the received feedback confirms once again Altice Labs as a leader in support technologies to the development of advanced telecommunication networks and the technological innovation capacity of portuguese engineering.
